Common Myths about Criminal Justice

 

Along the banks of the Menominee River in Wisconsin and Michigan exists a small band of advocates - dedicated to the idea that a person accused is innocent unless proven guilty by real evidence before a jury. That band is known as the Menominee River Defenders Association. Legal Links

Each of these lawyers has spent a substantial portion of his or her career defending those charged with acts against society. We need such people if we are to live in a free society. Many are former prosecutors and practice other areas of law as well. 

Meetings of the Menominee River Defender Association are scheduled monthly, usually on the third Thursday of each month at the Marinette County Courthouse.

Some members of the Menominee River Defenders Association have consented to having their names listed at this site. There are other lawyers practicing criminal defense law in our communities who are not members of this association. This should not be taken to mean that they are not competent practitioners in this area of law. It merely means that they haven't chosen to pay dues for yet another bar association.
